Evanston, Illinois - Downtown Trick-or-Treat Stroll

Head to Downtown Evanston on the afternoon of Saturday, October 30th to trick-or-treat at local businesses! Shops and vendors will be handing out sweet treats to kids, families can take photos at the fall-themed installation, and there will even be a pet costume contest!

N Burling Street - Between Wrightwood and Fullerton

This well-known and wealthy neighborhood goes all out for the holiday. The block is closed to traffic during this time so that kids and strollers are safe to roam around, and both sides of the street deliver quality candy as well as non-edible goodies for kids who have food allergies.

N Freemont Street - Between Armitage and Willow

This neighborhood is also closed to traffic during trick-or-treating and has some of the best haunting decor. Expect a crowd when you arrive, but for the parents who are brave enough to weather this busy holiday with their little ones, some houses even hand out conciliatory wine.

W Goethe Street - From Dearborn to Astor

These professionally decorated mansions give off impressive spooky vibes. According to Chicago magazine, residents hand out huge candy bars— and for the kids who may be allergic, adorable stuffed animals are also handed out. Beware of the witch stirring the huge cauldron, who, according to legend, might just try to throw you in!

N Bernard Street - 2400 and 2500 Blocks

This trick-or-treating hot spot has been a popular candy-grabbing destination since the 80’s and includes elaborate lawn displays and a plethora of fun-size and midsize candy bars, including a stash of special candy just for resident kids. Expect a packed street and a long line up to each door!

S Harper Avenue - From 57th to 59th Street

This block of eerily-decorated houses leads to the University of Chicago, meaning that plenty of public transportation is available to the neighborhood. The entire neighborhood community comes alive with street displays during Halloween, and always provide great candy.

Naperville, Illinois - Downtown Halloween Hop

Visit downtown Napierville on Halloween morning in your best costumes to grab both candy and non-candy goodies. More than 70 downtown businesses will be open early to hand out Halloween surprises.

Businesses and organizations will set up tables throughout Fox Pointe to hand out goodies of all kinds, and families can enjoy the area’s halloween decorations while they stroll. Visitors are also encouraged to vote in the local scarecrow contest!
